Preparations have been done a week before and the delegates for the third day of the academic conference entitled Rizal: Malay, Diwa Puso, at Buhay (organized by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines) got their first treat by visiting the New Rizal Monument in Calamba City, Laguna.

Found just across the new city hall complex, this Rizal Monument measures about 22 feet (excluding its base) and is said to be the tallest Rizal monument in the world. It was inaugurated on June 19, 2011 with President Benigno Aquino III gracing the occasion. One question however continued to crop up: who is the artist who made the monument? This is something worth researching for.

  1. Missing Calamba right now, I've lived there for about 5 years, wala pa netong malaking Rizal statue when I was there. I hope to visit Calamba again in the future.
