The Makiling Art Group’s Tara’t Makisining! Art Exhibit at SM Calamba

The month of February, having been designated as National Arts Month, was packed with different arts- and culture-related activities from Northern Luzon down to the southern cities in Mindanao. Here in Southern Tagalog, The Makiling Arts Group Makisining organized an art exhibit in SM Calamba as part of their participation to the National Art Month.

Samasining is composed of artists of diverge ages most of whom came from the areas at the foot of Mount Maquiling. The said art exhibit run from February 20 to March 4, 2012. The event was a joint effort of the Bantoc Group UPCAT Review, yvetteco.com, Sights and Graphics Outdoor Media, Inc., and Graphitek Signmaker Corp.

Visual arts is still alive in this part of Luzon and I am excited to see that the artists here are growing stronger in their craft in terms of themes and forms of execution. Personally, I anticipate more exhibits from the artists of Laguna this year.
